Bruce 2002年発表のアルバム＜ザ・ライジング/The Rising＞のタイトル曲。　911同時多発テロ以降の人々の姿を反映した曲で占められた、E Street Bandを久しぶりにバックに配した、トピカル・ロック・アルバムだ。　ボスの生ギター引き語りのWoody Guthrie調のプロテスト・フォーク・アルバム"Ghost of Tom Joad"＜ゴースト・オブ・トム・ジョード＞以来のアルバムになる。

この曲は、救助に当たった消防士の視点からテロの悲しみを乗り越えて皆で立ち上がろうと呼びかけている。
